Cliff research

It’s been a long time that I haven’t published on my blog. I currently have a lot of work on Spartacus season 3. Here is a research that I’m doing on my spare time to get a realistic render of rock cliff in Vue.

The process involves Maya to create the basic geometry, then I use sculptris to add the details of the rock. I created my own brushes from photographies and thanks to the great algorithm from sculptris, I can add more polygons on the mesh exactly where I need them!

After this, I create the UVs for the model, automatic UVs work fine and then I can start to paint the texture in Mari. I use some photographies I did.

Once I have exported the texture map, I can import everything into Vue for the final render.

Here is the first result I’ve got in less than 30 min of work.
